Mornington Youth Group

Supporting young people to explore their local area, understand the importance of community spaces and contribute their ideas about the future of the neighbourhood.

The group began the project by thinking about how they use spaces in the area and the importance of these spaces in the Lower Ormeau area.

The group decided on Ormeau Park as their focus as it is used by everyone in the group and it is an iconic landmark in the area. The group discovered that the Park was the first public park in Belfast and chose to celebrate this through both photography and painting. The group have explored sketching, watercolour and acrylic painting. They have concluded their project with an acrylic painting on canvas board of the pictures they had taken.
