BSCR Women’s Group

From the outset of the project the group agreed that they wished to explore family history and DNA, however the project had to be adjusted due to the late arrival of DNA kits and subsequently the delay in receiving DNA results.
Instead the women found they were interested in the fairy park on Blythe Street, Sandy Row and family connections to the area. We started exploring familial memory of the tree, as there are several generations of one family in the group. The group created a survey, permission slip form and interview questions relating to the tree, the park and family memory. The interview gauged local knowledge and family connection to the tree. The women also took part in the interviews and created a soundpiece of the stories they collected.
